Be Bold

This year, we're encouraging young audiences to think about how you would like to shape the world around you.  Whether you love superheroes, are interested in our planet; fairies or wonder about far away places, we have something for you!   All our authors will be sharing their stories, in the case of Atinuke, of home in Africa with her Anna Hibiscus series, we'll visit the world of superheroes with scientist and author Barry Fitzgerald and we invite the very young into the spectacularly colourful world of Sophy Henn.  We will as always present both a schools and family programme.  We have many cross over events for teenagers - particularly within our PRESENT TENSE strand when we consider visions of the future.  A number of panel events are planned with teens in mind including a discussion of how young people become political and celebrating diversity in YA literature.

Be Bold

This year, we make an imaginative leap of our own as we bring together words and music, presenting our new Lyric Note programme. In association with the TS Eliot Foundation and to mark Nick Roth's recent tenure as composer in residence at Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, we present The Wasteland, directed by Adrian Dunbar and featuring Stranley Townsend, Orla Charlton, Frank McCusker and Anna Nygh.  We thread the Lyric Note into this year's festival, connecting writers with musicians over the run of the festival.
