These short, individual workshops are designed for children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and their families. The child and their family will explore the world of Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury.
Children with autism experience the world a little differently. So this event will be structured a little differently, to meet the needs of the participants. It will be a one to one event, with sensory play (and animals) where the participant will be guided through Farmer Duck and will interact with the props and activities at their comfort level. Farmer Duck is a picture book, but all ages (and language levels) who might enjoy the experience are welcome.
Deirdre Sullivan has written four YA novels and three Nightmare Club books for younger readers. She is a qualified primary school teacher with an MA in Drama and Theatre studies. When she's not being a writer, she works with children with autism.
Wooly Ward's Farm will be at the dlr LexIcon Garden from 11am to 1pm with lots of animals, including ducks from the Farmer Duck picture book (by Martin Waddell, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury), sheep, lambs, chickens and lots more. Join them to pet, feed, lead and groom all their animals! No booking required.
