Dún Laoghaire has excellent public transport connections and can be easily accessed by Bus, Rail, Air and Sea. Dún Laoghaire is also easily accessed by a comprehensive local and national road network.

If you are planning on visiting Dún Laoghaire for any festival events please use public transport.

Dún Laoghaire is serviced by Dublin Bus to and from Dublin City and Bray in Wicklow. There is also a comprehensive network covering the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown area. Nightlink services run on every hour on the hour from Trinity College from midnight to 3am on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Rail

Travel by DART from Dublin City Centre to Dún Laoghaire. The journey offers spectacular views of Dublin Bay. With trains running every 5 minutes during rush hour periods and every 15 minutes during the day, it is definitely one of the most convenient ways to arrive. DART also links up with Irish Rail and Luas tram services at Connolly Station.

Irish Rail is the national rail service and operates services throughout the country including stops at Dún Laoghaire.

The M50 is Dublin's C shaped semi-orbital motorway. Dún Laoghaire is located approximately 7 kilometers from the nearest junction with the motorway on its southern side. Dún Laoghaire is best accessed from Exit 16 (Loughlinstown/Cherrywood) of the M50 with a journey time in average traffic of approx. 15 minutes..

From Dublin City Centre take the N11 via Stillorgan or the N31 via Blackrock to Dún Laoghaire. All routes are well signposted.

Dublin Airport located 22km to the north of Dún Laoghaire is the closest airport. The flight information page on the Dublin Airport website has full details for all airlines and schedules.

Dún Laoghaire is served directly by Aircoach bus services from Dublin Airport. Dublin Bus also provides services from Dublin Airport to connect with DART rail at Connolly Station.

Daily ferry servies are operated by Irish Ferries and Stenaline between the UK and Ireland.

If you are lucky enough to own your own boat Dún Laoghaire Marina has berthing facilities available.
