Susan McKay’s commitment to social issues, the North and feminism have been central to her work for almost 30 years, in her journalism, writing, and as a broadcaster for radio and television. Her writing has been influential in changing Irish attitudes to issues in the North, including child abuse and domestic violence, and the legacy of violent conflict.
In this event, the award-winning writer will reflect on the transgenerational impact of a history of violence in Northern Ireland. Susan will discuss how feminist movements have worked towards breaking down borders across the island, from grassroots campaigns for marriage equality to the fight for reproductive rights.
This event is presented by the Irish Writers Centre and supported by Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
